Math Updates


                                                                                       
Alsalamo Alikom Dear Parents

InshaaAllah over the next 2 weeks, grade 6 students will be learning about multiplication of whole number and decimals. The focus of the lessons will be on using a variety of appropriate calculation methods, including mental math and pencil and paper algorithms. students will learn how to estimate products, multiply decimals by whole numbers, and decimals by decimals.
At the end of the chapter the students will be asked to communicate what they learned to solve problems.

Quran Competition

Dear parents and guardians,


Assalamu Allikum
 
Hope this email reaches you in the best state of Eman.

For the students who have submitted registration slips for the competition, please be advised that the first round of the competition will start after the Family Day weekend  and will last until the beginning of March, so be prepared for this round according to the following dates:


 (Feb. 17 to Feb.20 )              JK, SK
 (Feb.17. to Feb. 20)              Grades 1.
 (Feb. 23.to Feb. 27)              Grades 2 and 3 .
 (Feb.17. to Feb 20)               Grades 4
 (Feb. 23.to Feb. 27)              Grades 5 & 6 
 (Feb.17. to Feb 20)               Grades 7 & 8 

On a final note, we would really appreciate any donations you can make in support of this competition. Jazakum Allah Khairan, no need to remind you of the enormous ajer in helping such a noble cause.
Those donations will go towards the gifts and trophies we will give for all of our students who participated.

InshaaAllah we will have the test on next Thursday in lessons 1,2,3,4.

Quran Updates

Assalamu Alaikum Dear parents;

Mashallah Grade 6 have just finished memorizing Surat AT-Talaq.

Inshallah they will be tested on the whole surah and assessed on memorization and tajwid next Wednesday , January 28th .

Please help them practice and be ready.

Besides, they will be tested on the new vocabulary we learned in the Surah. Attached is a copy for your convenience.

Science Fair



Assalamu Alaikum dear parents,



I hope you have had a restful winter break with your family.I have the pleasure  to inform you that this year Insha'a Allah grades 5 and 6  will be participate in the science fair that will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015

For these grades, the participation is mandatory as part of  work involved will be done in class and the project is will be evaluated. Students who wish to participate are required to work with a partner. Teachers Rania , Salma, Dina, Christopher  and myself are available to provide help when needed.

I am attaching the science fair handbook to help your child throughout his/her work.

Student  are required to fill out the registration form and return it to their teacher  by the end of January. Students are also  given the timeline to help them manage their time.

Math Project

Now it is time for the Data 

Management Project:

Students are asked to create their own problem including the following points:

Ø Conducting a survey by asking a question on your own interest.
Ø Collect, organize, and display the results of the survey using a Tally Chart
Ø Create a graph to display the results of your survey question. (Choose an appropriate graph that matches your data, you can use more than one graph).
Ø Describe your graph.
Ø Use TAILS to be sure that your graph is perfect and complete.
Ø  Explain TAILS in your own words in a very clear way.
Ø  Be the most creative you could be.
Ø  Use different colors in an effective way.
Ø  Be organized, neat, and clear.

The due date is Monday, January the 12th.
