Field Trip

THE LAST REEF 3D

 

Dear Parents,

This is to inform you on Friday April 05, 2013 we will be going to the Canadian Museum of Civilization. We are going to the IMAX theatre to watch the documentary about the last Reef. The documentary will be in 3D. The Documentary will give the student the chance to learn about different types of sea animals. The trip form will be sent home today and they are expected to be back to me by Wednesday

Alsalamo Alikom Dear Parents

We will have inshAllah an Islamic studies project which is creating a book about Islam and how proud we are to be Muslims.

All grade 6 students will cooperate together to create one book about the Islamic Etiquette.

The book will be divided into:

·         An introduction

·         10 chapters focusing on the how a good Muslim must be.

·         The ending

 

The idea of this book is that students feel proud of being Muslims and have the power of convincing anyone with Islam and also to show how good Muslims have to look like.

 

The due date will be April 12th.

Social Studies Updates

 

Dear Parents

Hope all is well and everyone in good health. The social st board games has turned out amazing. I'm very pleased and proud of my students for coming up with very creative ideas to create their games. They have put a lot of hard work and dedication to the project. We will have the game fair day this friday March 22, 2013.

National Engineering Week

 

 

Alsalamo Alikom dear Parents

Yesterday grade 6 students and I went to Ottawa University to participate in the National Engineering Week.

The students enjoyed their day a lot they participated in 3 activities

·         Racing with Lego Cars.

·         Building the tallest structure.

·         Egg protector.

They had a lot of fun and also it was a very good chance to sharpen their skills again after March break, as these activities helped them to design, plan, justify, create and predict.

 
When we returned back to school they were talking a lot about the trip and how they enjoyed it alhamollilah.

Hope they always have fun and enjoy their time in school.

Language updates

 

 

New Unit- Media studies

Dear parents we are currently starting a new unit about Media studies.  As a class we have talked about different methods of Advertisements.  Over the next few weeks, we will look into different methods of advertisements and the effect and impact of them. We are currently looking into television commercials.  Students were assigned to watch a commercial and to inform the class what the commercial was about? Target audience, is it an effective commercial? Etc.  Students were asked to analyze their chosen commercial and we will share them throughout this week Inshallah.

 Grammar: This week we have looked over 

1.       Using commas with series

2.       Giving Direction

3.       One word, Many Meanings

There was a pop quiz on giving direction today, Tuesday March 5, 2013.  The quiz has been marked and will be sent home at the end of the day. J

Quran Updates

Quran: Update from Tr. Samia

Alhamdullah we finished reciting and memorizing  surat Attalaaqah  and  we will have a test on the whole surah on wednesday March 20th  Insha Allah . Socail studies updates

Alsalamom Alikom Dear Parents,

Due to several events that has been going on, the due date for the Social st game board project has been moved to Friday, March 8, 2013. Students will take next week to work on the project in class as well as some parts at home as homework. The project/game fair day will be due the up coming Friday.
